Fall is beginning to roll around, which means it’s time to start bringing out the fall clothes. Every season I sort through my clothes and figure out what I need and don’t need in my wardrobe. I try keep my fall clothing on the more minimal side, and with more versatile pieces. While sorting through my clothes I narrowed down the 10 things I thought should be in every fall wardrobe. So if you’re looking to add to your fall clothing, or simply for a reason to do some more shopping, here are 10 items to consider having in your wardrobe this fall!
Although jeans are great, sometimes it’s nice to have other options. Black pants, or slacks, are a great alternative. Although they are usually worn more for a work setting, they’re also perfect for the everyday casual outfit. I usually buy mine at H&M since they have inexpensive options that fit great, but shop around and find a pair that fits your style!
When most people think fall shoes they think boots, but oxfords and loafers are also great options! They’re an easy way to dress up an outfit without having to do much. You can wear them with jeans and a t-shirt, or pair them with a dress. Although mine are a few years old, Nine West and H&M have a wide variety of styles to choose from.
If you’re like me and you tend to only buy neutral colored sweaters, add a few patterned sweaters into your wardrobe this fall! You can pick anything from bold stripes to a fun animal pattern. Not only are they great for layering over neutral dresses, but they are also a simple way to add some more color into your clothes.
As it gets colder, it’s important to have at least one lightweight jacket. Denim, leather, bomber, and anorak jackets are perfect for fall. Look at your wardrobe and figure out which style of jacket fits the clothing you have already.
Although dresses are usually worn in the summer, they can also be a great piece to have for fall nights out. Patterned dresses can be great, but I would suggest having at least one neutral dress that can worn under sweaters or with a pair of leggings or slacks.
No matter what season is it, having a good pair of sneakers can make all the difference in your wardrobe. Before you buy a pair, decide if you prefer ones that need to be tied or slipped on. Vans are my go-to for any type of sneakers, and they even look great with a dress!
Even though they might not be the most fashionable of items, an oversized cardigan is great for lounging around at home or throwing on over a sweater on a cold day. They’re sort of like a blanket that’s acceptable to wear out in public.
Besides sweaters, oversized button down shirts are a great top to have in your wardrobe. They look great with a good pair of jeans, was well as layered under a sweater. Pick up a few plain ones as well as some simple patterned ones, and don’t be afraid to pick up a larger size and make it into a button down dress!
It’s important to have a few good fitting pair of jeans in your wardrobe. The one fit of jeans that doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon, and are my personal favorite, is high waisted. High waisted jeans are not only flattering to most body types, but are also extremely comfortable. Spend some time going to different stores to see whose jeans fit you the best. It may take a little bit of time to find the right pair, but it will be worth it in the end.
Growing up I use to always wish that I would need glasses because I loved the way they looked. Well, now you don’t even need a prescription to wear them! Glasses are a great way to finish off a look and there are now a wide variety of styles to choose from. Urban Outfitters has some great inexpensive options, so try on a few different styles and have fun with it!
