Every one gets creative blocks. Although it’s something we try to avoid, all that hard work eventually catches up to you and you find yourself at a roadblock with no idea where to go next. Whether you’re a blogger or just for work, here are some tips to help you get over that creative block!
The best thing you can do when you have no idea what to create next is to just stop. Take a step away from your work to clear your mind. Over working yourself will leave you even more tired and uninspired. You have to remind yourself that sometimes it’s okay to take a break from creating!
When you’re having a creative block it’s important to put yourself in new surroundings. Go to a local coffee shop, a park, or even go for a short walk. Getting out of your work environment can give you a new perspective and some much needed mind-clearing time.
If you just can’t seem to come up with any ideas, whether it’s blogging or work, take a notebook and write down the first things that come to mind. Even if it doesn’t fit your niche, write the ideas down anyway. Getting it all out of your mind and on paper can help you take a clear minded approach. And you might even come up with your best ideas yet!
You need to constantly be giving your body fuel throughout the day, and it can be very easy to forget that when you are working. Give yourself a break and make yourself a snack. Also always remember to have a water bottle next to you and hydrate throughout the day! Keeping your body fueled helps fuel your brain and your creativity.
Although writing ideas down on paper is a big help, it can also be great to talk to others. Talk to a family member or friend about your creative block and bounce ideas off of them. There have been plenty of times where I’ve been lost on what to blog, and one talk with my mom has solved the problem!
I often find doing something relaxing that I love can give me loads of inspiration. Turn on your favorite movie or have a music listening session. Give yourself a few hours of relaxing and you might even get some inspiration!
Whenever I’m lost with blogging and I’m not sure what posts to create, I look back at old ones. Looking back at older posts can help you see how far you’ve come from when you started, and give you that much needed motivation! You can also always expand on any older post and give your readers new ideas.
