For most of us it’s officially summer which means a bit more down time. Although you may still have to work, school is out for the next few months which frees up some of your time. It can be a bit harder during summer to blog because the schedule you’ve been on for the rest of the year has now changed and you have to motivate yourself. To help you successfully blog during the summer and be consistence with posts, I’m sharing you with the tips I’ll be using to blog this summer!
Planning out all of your posts month by month is one of the best things you can do as a blogger, especially for summer. It helps you stay on track and plan out ahead of time what photos you have to take and when you need to have certain posts written by. I personally use the calendar on my Macbook air. It allows you to easily add events and you can color code each type, which can help you see how many posts in each category you’re creating that month. You can also use a notebook if you prefer using paper. At the end of each month start adding blog post ideas to your calendar. The great thing about using the calendar on your computer is you can easily move around posts to figure out which one you want to go up when. This will allow you to stay on track with all of your posts for summer and plan ahead!
You should also make a schedule of when you are going to take photos. This can also be done on your calendar by simply adding new events for each photo taking session. This way you can figure out when you can take them and be on or ahead of schedule for your posts. It’s also extremely helpful to do this if you are having someone else help you take photos, as you can take them when you know you’re both off.
Having a list of photos ideas will help when it comes to creating each post for your summer. Keep a list either on your phone or in a notebook of different photos ideas for each type of post. If you’re a fashion blogger make a list of outfit ideas for future posts that you would want to wear. You can also take a picture with your phone of the outfits so you have a visual log of them. If you’re a beauty blogger you can do the same thing with makeup looks or products. And if you’re a lifestyle blogger come up with some ideas for photo shots as well as props you could use!
Having a set time of the day where you write a few posts is a good idea for summer. It can be in the morning with a cup of coffee or at night cuddled up in bed. Find the time when you do your best writing, find a spot you’re comfortable in, and type away! Give yourself at least an hour a few times a week to write and work on your posts.
Summer is all about relaxing and getting away, so it’s not uncommon for some planned or unplanned trips to come up. That’s why getting ahead on some of your posts would be smart. If you know you have a trip coming up, start planning what posts you have to write before you leave, what photos you have to take and get to work! It can be a bit stressful since you have to be creating posts for now while working on ones for when you’re away, but it will be worth it when you don’t have to worry about them during vacation. If you don’t have trips planned this summer try to at least be one post ahead of schedule because you never know when any spontaneous day trips can come up!
One of the downsides of blogging is you can spend hours behind a screen indoors. But don’t forget that you can take your workspace anywhere with internet, so go outside and work this summer! Go in your backyard or sit outside at a local cafe and work on your posts. This will help you get some much needed vitamin D, and because you’re in a new environment your creative side of your brain will appreciate it!
And that is my guide to blogging during summer! I wish you all the best with your blogging, and let me know what your blogging plans for this summer are!
