When shopping for any season I always try to find pieces that are versatile and can go with most of my wardrobe. I find summer to be one of the harder season for me to shop for because it’s hard to find items I love that I will wear next year + will go with more than one item in my closet. Today I thought I would share with you 5 summer fashion pieces that are great for a versatile wardrobe + an OOTD showing most of these items in my own wardrobe!
T-shirts are great for summer, but having a button-down blouse can be the perfect versatile top. They’re great for just wearing on their own with jeans or black pants, or layered under a tank top dress or pinafore dress. And when it gets into fall and winter, you can layer it under sweaters and have the collar show for an extra detail. I personally love the button down blouses from Uniqlo and they come in a variety of colors!
Blank pants or culottes have become my go to for summer and I was surprised at how much of my wardrobe they go with. Because they tend to be more dressy, you can wear them with any off the shoulder top or any blouse you have with heels. But you can also wear them with a slogan tee and sneakers for a more casual everyday outfit. Because culottes are usually capri length, they won’t be good for the winter time, but black pants that can be rolled up are perfect for all year round! They also are a nice alternative to the usual jeans / denim shorts, and not to mention they can be way more comfortable too.
I have had every length of summer dress before, and I find a midi dress to be the perfect one. They are great for wearing with sandals, heels, or sneakers, layering a denim jacket over top, or a light sweater for cooler nights. And because they are midi length you won’t have to worry too much on those windy summer days! With so many styles, prints, materials, and patterns available you are sure to find one that you love. My favorite places to shop for them are Loft and ASOS!
Tote bags are the perfect bag to have for any season, especially summer. Because they are usually bigger than normal purses, you can put everything you need in them, from laptop to makeup, jackets to food shopping, and carry everything with you on the go. They’re also great because you can get a canvas one for a more casual look (and usually a cheaper price), or a leather one for a more chic look. You can also get creative and buy a canvas one and design it yourself! I would just suggest getting one with a longer arm strap so it will be more comfortable having it under your arm for most of the day.
I love a good pair of sneakers for any outfit, but having a pair that you can dress up is even better. I love any Vans sneakers, whether the Old Skool ones or slip ons, because they look great with jeans + a t-shirt or a summer dress! Find a pair of sneakers that will look good with more casual outfits and with slightly more dressier outfits. With so many brands to choose from you’ll definitely find a pair you love + will be comfortable for those summer days filled with lots of walking.
I love this outfit because it has most of these 5 items + it looks put together while still being extremely comfortable. This button down navy blouse is from Uniqlo and I love to wear it tucked in to these pants for a slightly dressier look, or left untucked for a more casual vibe. These black pants are from ASOS and I basically live in them or my Zara culottes most days. Since I’m not a huge fan of wearing shorts because they constantly ride up throughout the day, those two pair of pants are my go to. My blue tote bag is actually from IKEA, and I love how much I can carry with me + it has a pocket for my smaller items. And my sneakers are my Vans Old Skool which I recently forgot how much I love them.
