How To Stay Cool This Summer + OOTD

It is unbelievably hot during the summer, for most of us at least. This often results in trying to leave the house as little as humanly possible. Sadly life doesn’t stop because of hot, humid weather. We still have to go about our normal daily routines, so to help I put together my tips on how to stay cool this summer + a hot day OOTD!

Growing up whenever there was a hot day I would always try to walk to where I was going as fast as possible. This actually only makes you more hot. On extremely hot days give yourself more time to get places, and walk there at a slower pace. This will keep you cooler and will also give you more time to enjoy your surroundings.

To beat the heat, get yourself a small portable fan that you can easily take with you and stick in your bag. It may look a little odd, but who cares! Everyone will wish they had thought of it too. It can be a simple paper one, or something small with batteries. This way when you’re out for the day you can cool yourself off when there is no breeze.

As always, hydrating throughout the day will keep you cooler. Before you leave make sure to bring a big, portable water bottle that you can drink from throughout the day. Even if you are having coffee in the morning, always be sure to bring water too! Not only will you feel less hot, but you’ll overall feel better.

If you have longer hair that can be put up I would highly suggest you do so. It can be in a simple bun or braid, or if your hair is too short for that just use a clip. Having your hair off your neck will instantly make you feel less hot. Just make sure to sunscreen the back of your neck too so you don’t get sunburned!

In the summer months it is always better to wear lighter colors in your outfits. On days where you know it’s going to unbearably hot, skip the darker clothing. Also tops made from lighter fabrics or dresses are a great option too! Having a few go-to outfits for hotter days will make everything easier.

Although I know I said you should wear lighter colors on hotter days, there are just some days where a black top is the perfect go to. I love this one from Monki because it’s a light weight material, but it isn’t see through. I’m not a huge fan of wearing shorts because I find they ride up throughout most of the day. However, this pair from Uniqlo I actually really like. They do still ride up a bit, but the material is perfect for walking around and it has pockets.

I have recently switched my purse for a tote bag when going out for the day. This “leather” one from target has been one of my favorite fashion finds. It has the perfect amount of space to hold everything from my laptop to my water bottle. I love the two large pockets in the front for holding my phone, keys, and anything I need to get to quickly. And these Madden Girl sandals are the best for sliding on my feet and heading out the door. Everything in this outfit makes the hot days that much more bearable!

And those are my tips to help you stay cool for the rest of the summer! Let me know how you are dealing with the heat this summer.

Oh I definitely walk slower when it’s hot out, whether I’m doing it on purpose or not! I’ve seen some people with portable fans plugged into their phones, haha. Can’t pass judgement when it’s so hot outside though! Hope you’ve having a lovely summer! Love your outfit.

You look soooo gorgeous in this! This has to be one of your best outfits. I’m so lazy about carrying around water with me but it’s so important I have to agree because when I do, it’s really a lifesaver. A small portable fan is such a great idea, I need to get one x

Aw thank you Pallavi! You are too sweet. I’m the same way sometimes when it comes to carrying a water bottle, but I usually regret not bring one. I’m glad you liked the idea of a portable fan! x
