I always had a love/dislike relationship with my hair. Every since I was younger I would have a hard time figuring out what to use and what styles I liked. It wasn’t until I got older that I started getting good products for my hair and really found ones that worked well with my type of hair. Because I now love my hair (except for the few bad hair days), I thought I would share with you a look at what products I use for my hair on a daily basis!
Just for some background on my hair- I have naturally straight hair that has never been dyed before. My hair has many surface layers cut in to it so it will give me a bit more texture/volume. I also have A LOT of hair. So much so that I have to get it thinned out every time I go get a hair cut. When it comes to washing my hair I usually do so almost every day, although I try to give myself one day a week without washing it. I also tend to stay away from using heat on my hair most days.
For months I used the Redken high rise volume line, but a few months ago I switched over to these two products. They are both silicone and sulfate free, which is what caught me attention. I will say because of this when you apply both of these they feel more dry than normal shampoos and conditioners. However the end result leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny, and it’s always nice knowing I am using less “chemicals” in my hair!
I have had dandruff ever since my freshman year of high school. For years I tried different products and nothing worked, until I found this! I use it one-two times a week, or more if needed. I lather it in my hair, let it sit for around 5 minutes, and then wash it out. The great thing about this product is I can use it on any day where I feel my dandruff has gotten worse. It really does nourish my scalp and get rid of any flakes.
I thought I would give this a mention because it is an important part in my hair care routine. In the shower after I use conditioner I will comb through my hair to get rid of any tangles. While doing this I run my hair under water so it’s easier to comb through. This helps detangle my hair and make sure there is no conditioner left in it.
Because I wash my hair almost every day I don’t wind up using dry shampoo too often. However, when I do need to use some this one is my favorite. Because I have so much hair I find most dry shampoos I can feel weighing down my hair. When I use this one I can’t even feel it, it actually removes the oil, and it is easy to massage into roots without leaving any white powder! I even have a travel sized one to bring with me if I need it for the day. I also will sometimes use this when I feel I need more volume in my hair.
My hair has always been naturally straight, and because of this + my type of hair it never curls. I spent so much of my teenage years trying to curl my hair, only to wind up with slight waves that were gone in an hour. This product has allowed me to finally get a semi-curl/wave in my hair! I spray it on before using a straighter to curl it, and then spray it at the end. It smells amazing (if they made a perfume in it I would buy it in a heart beat), and it actually holds my hair! I also will spray this in my hair on days where I want a bit more texture without having to actually curl it.
And that is my hair care routine! As you can see most of the products I use are from Redken (not sponsored, I just love the brand). I have been lucky enough to find a brand that I feel works well on my hair. I’ve always been a believer that hair is something that is okay to get more “expensive” products for. Let me know what your favorite hair care brand is!
