Love Your Wardrobe: My Top 5 Shirts In My Closet

Although shopping and buying new clothes is great, sometimes you have to take the time to appreciate the items you already have. I love buying new clothes, but I’ve started making it a priority to love what is already in my closet. This inspired me to start a new series on my blog called love your wardrobe. Every few weeks I’ll share a look at the items I love in my wardrobe in different sections. I hope this inspires you to love what you already own, and to not feel pressured to always buy new clothing items. So for the first part I will be sharing a look at my top 5 shirts in my closet.

1. H&M Green Turtleneck

This turtleneck was in my affordable sweaters blog post, and it is one of my favorites in my wardrobe. I got this a few years ago at H&M, and I wear it at least once a week in the colder weather months. The dark green color is beautiful, and I love the slightly oversized, loose fit of it.

2. Uniqlo Button Down Short Sleeve Blouse

My favorite store to get button down blouses is Uniqlo, and I have quite a few in my closet now. But my favorite out of all of them is this blue short sleeve one. It’s great for wearing on it’s own for spring and summer, and for layering under sweaters with the collar showing. Also it doesn’t lose it’s shape after washing, which is a bonus to me.

3. Target Mossimo Red T-Shirt

When I got this shirt I originally planned on wearing it for exercising, which is why it’s in a larger size. But then I realized it was perfect for casual days at home, and I wear it all the time now. I have it in a few different colors, but this red one is my favorite. It’s comfortable, a flattering shape, and great for layering for warmth.

4. H&M Black Mock Turtleneck

This black mock turtleneck is my favorite staple piece in my wardrobe. It’s perfect for more minimal outfits, and I also have it in a tan shade.

5. Monki Patterned Blouse

This patterned blouse from Monki that I got on ASOS is a huge love of mine. It was on sale last year and I managed to get the last one. I love that it’s oversized and flowy, and the pattern is very retro.

And those are my top 5 shirts in my wardrobe. I hope this inspires you to love the clothing pieces you already have, and let me know what your favorite top in your closet is!

  1. I love your new initiative to show love to your current wardrobe! I used to constantly buy new clothes and let them sit in my closet until recently I purged through my closet and did a gigantic clean up. I agree that it’s nice to buy new clothes once in a while, but I’m slowly started to appreciate my clothes and don’t mind rotating through a few every day (it’s news to me that people really DON’T care if you wore the same sweater last week!).

I love the green turtleneck sweater you got! It looks so cozy and I bet it looks great dressed up or down.

Thank you Claire! I’m so glad you agree. And it really is surprising how people don’t really notice that you wear the same items each week!

Thanks for sharing your favorite shirts! It really gives us an idea of who you are and what you love to wear! I love this idea and was thinking about writing something similar but with furry jackets hahah (I have quite a collection).

I’m so glad you liked the post Kim! And I would love to see you do one on your jackets! x

All your pieces are wonderful staples and quite timeless as well! When I was younger I was a really careless spender and would buy very trendy at the moment pieces that I even saw myself not wearing for long. Now that I’m older I always look for pieces that will always compliment other pieces in my wardrobe. I’d love to see more of your style and how we can appreciate our wardrobes as well!

    • Kara Callahan says:

Thank you so much Stacey! I use to be the same when I was a teenager, but I hated the feeling of looking in my wardrobe and not liking anything I saw. There really is nothing better than classic pieces that go with what you own x

My favourite is the last one, the print one. I see it so elegant and you can wear it with classic pants but also with jeans.
I really loooove this new section of your blog. It happens to me, I have a lot of beautiful things in my wardrobe but I don’t realise it. I think it is so important to do a deep “cleaning” of clothes that you want or you don’t want. So, it is more easy to focus on that pieces you are going to use.

I’m so glad you liked this new post idea E! That means a lot! And the last one is one of my top favorites too x
