5 Ways To Prepare For A Productive New Year


With every new year comes figuring out what we want to achieve, and how to go about that. We all want to be as productive and successful as we can, but most times we need a little help. So I put together a post of 5 ways you can prepare for a productive new year!

Get A Planner / Bullet Journal Notebook

The trick to staying on top of everything in the new year and getting things done is having somewhere to write it all down. We’re human, so there is no way we can remember it all in our heads. So this new year have a designated place where you write down monthly, weekly, and daily to-do tasks, events, important dates, and projects. You can buy yourself a yearly planner with everything already set up for you. I personally love’s 17-month planners because they have plenty of room to write down tasks, + awesome artwork created by amazing ladies.

Another option is to get a notebook of your choice and create a bullet journal. I personally love Moleskine notebooks, but the great thing about bullet journals is you have the freedom to do whatever you want! I created a video on my YouTube channel all about mine + my go-to layout, so be sure to give it a watch for some inspiration. If you work better having everything being electronic, I would recommend using Google calendar or the calendar that comes on Apple computers. The reminders app on iPhones is also great for daily to-do lists, since you can set a alarm to go off for each task. Just play around and find a system that works best for you.

Set Reasonable, Measurable Goals

With each new year comes setting new goals we want to accomplish. Although you should reach for the stars, be sure that your goals are reasonable (taking a trip to the moon likely won’t happen this year), and measurable. This is a smart idea because this will allow you to see your growth and success in completing them. So instead of saying “I want to grow my blog views”, try “I want to grow my blog views by 1,000”. Having something you can measure will make completing them easier. I will have a blog post up on Saturday the 6th with my tips on to setting reasonable New Year’s Goals, so be on the lookout!

Declutter Your Space

A clean space equals a clean mind, and often gives us a fresh start. So spend a day cleaning and decluttering your space. That includes your living space, bedroom, makeup and bathroom, workspace, and yes – even your digital space! Get rid of the apps you don’t use, clear out your photos, close any unneeded windows open on your computer, and put everything into folders. Having a fresh, declutter space will keep you less stressed and ready to take on new tasks!

Work Smarter Not Harder

We often tell ourselves that we want to work harder and accomplish more. But it’s important that you are working smarter, not necessarily harder. Spend a week tracking how you spend your time, and how much time is spent on each task – even something as simple as scrolling through social media. This will allow you to see where you’re waisting your time, and how you can accomplish tasks quicker, with the same quality of work.

Motivational Books + Inspiration

Sometimes the perfect way to jumpstart your productivity is some inspiration. This can come for anywhere, but often I find books to be a great helpful choice. These books can be anything from life tips, career focused books, or just how to get what you want. A new favorite of mine is “It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be” by Paul Arden. This book is designed for graphic designers in mind, but as the book says it really works for anyone. You can also find podcasts with people who are in the same career as you, or even YouTube videos. Turn other people’s success into motivation that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to!

And those are my 5 tips to help you have the most productive 2018! Just remember that you can do anything you put your mind to, but it’s also okay not to complete everything in just one year.

    Love your photos! I have a planner and bullet journal which are the only way I can get anything done and definitely agree listening to podcasts are a great source of inspiration! I found a podcast related to my job that I listen to if I need a little extra motivation.

    To me it is very useful to have a planner! I have a month planner and a week planner and it is perfect to organize my mind and to have a completely look of my work, my blog/instagram world and my workout.
    By the way, lights and shadows on this last pic are awesome!

    These are all wonderful tips babe! It’s always a reminder of what I need to get done when I read your blog, so thanks for that! I’ve been on the rise at decluttering my space and even phone as mentioned…although that one has been a bit tough. And motivation books are always a must! I have 3 lined up and getting through one at the moment.
