Simple & Easy Ways To Use Affiliate Links On Your Blog
As a blogger one of the easiest ways you can monetize your blog is by using affiliate links. An affiliate link allows you to share a link to an item in your blog post, and with each click or purchase you make a small percentage. Although these won’t necessarily allow you to be able to live off of them, they can be a great way to make a little extra income. But it can be hard as a blogger to know where to start. So today I’m going to share with you some easy ways to use affiliate links on your blog!
ShopStyle Collective is the very first affiliate program I signed up for, and it’s still my favorite to this day. It’s free to sign up, and the great thing is unlike other programs, there is no minimum requirements that you have to meet. Once you sign up you can search through hundreds of products and brands.
ShopStyle allows you to not only create links for the items, but you can create product widgets with images of the items that you can put in your posts. All you have to do is create the widget, copy the code they provide you, and paste it in the text/html section of your blog post before publishing it. I mainly use this for linking outfit items as well as beauty products (as shown below). You can also create a Shop Your Instagram page as well as New In Wardrobe page by creating looks or collections. The possibilities are endless, and once you paste the code, all the editing/changing of products can be done in ShopStyle. So I would highly recommend using their program!
Amazon Affiliate Program
Amazon has a Affiliate Program you can join that is also free. It takes about 5-10 minutes to join, and the process is simple.
Click “join now for free” on upper right hand side of your screen.
Log in to your Amazon account.
Fill out the information ( there are 5 “pages” )- personal information, website(s) you’re linking it to, and information about your blog.
Enter your phone number, get the pin, and insert pin number in to the phone when they call.
You can enter your tax and payment information, or wait till later, which I would suggest doing.
And that’s it! You do get approved right away, but there are certain requirements you have to reach within 180 days or they will terminate your account. You have to make at least 3 qualified sales in those days to avoid having your account terminated, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try!
Target Affiliate Program
Target just last year started an affiliate program, and if you do quite a bit of shopping at Target I would suggest applying. You do have to send in an application and be approved, but it’s worth the try and after all, you miss 100% of the chances you never take.
Fill out all the information to make an account. Tell them about what your blog is, what you post about, what items you promote, and how many visitors you get each month. Share any useful information about your blog that you can think of.
Then they send an email to your email address to confirm your application submission. And after that, all you have to do is wait to see if you will be approved. If they don’t approve you, don’t be too upset. You can always apply again once your blog has grown a little more!
And those are some different ways you can use affiliate links on your blog. Just remember that it’s best to only link items that are in your post/photos, items you talked about in the post but not featured, or similar items. Chances are if you’re just posting random affiliate links to make money, your readers will notice. Also keep in mind that it does take time to make some income off of them, and most have a certain limit you must reach before you can get a check. So I hope this post helped, and happy linking!
