“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives”. This is a quote I heard earlier this year and it really stuck with me. We often do the same things every day just because it has become our routine. Now this doesn’t mean this is bad, but sometimes we fall into these routines because they are comfortable or all we know. I think this quote is a great reminder that how you spend each day is how your life will be, which means you should make time for things that benefit you. Here are some ways I’m making sure I do the things I love everyday, and you can too!
Although in life you do have to work, and do tasks that maybe you aren’t thrilled about but have to be done, it’s important to set aside time each day to do something that you love. This can be a hobby or just simply giving yourself time to do nothing. I’ve started setting aside time each afternoon/evening to take my dog for a long walk. I love walking and being in nature, and it helps me relax and clear my thoughts. Not everything you do everyday has to be towards work, blogging, social media, or school.
With routines and day to day life it’s easy to forget about the goals you want to achieve in life. I’ve made it a habit to do at least one thing a day that’s helping me towards my short and long term goals, and the direction I want my life to go.
Life is too short to do things that make you miserable, so I’ve started getting rid of the things that aren’t making me happy. This means donating items I longer need or overwhelm me, spending my time with people whose company I enjoy, and being more conscious of how I spend my days. Now you won’t be able to only do things that make you happy all the time, that’s just life, but the things you can avoid or get rid of can be just the right amount of positive change.
So remember, each day is a page in the book of your life, and at the end it will all add up to whatever you want it to. Take time for the things you enjoy, and create the life you’ve always dreamed of!
