Why As Bloggers We Should Stop Apologizing All The Time

One thing I’ve seen talked about a lot on social media recently, and for good reason, is when you should apologize and when you shouldn’t. We have become conditioned to say sorry for the little things, even if it is someone else’s fault, instead of thanking people.

It was really an eye opener and it got me thinking about how as bloggers we often apologize for things that maybe we don’t need to. I swear that almost every email I have replied to as a blogger has started with “I’m so sorry for the late reply”, even if it’s just a few days later. The online world never shuts off, and because of this most of us start to feel terrible about not responding quick enough, when in fact the world will continue to turn.

Now I’m not saying that leaving emails in your inbox for a week is a good thing (something I’ve been guilty of a few times), but as bloggers we should stop apologizing all the time for the little things and start thanking people. Instead of “I’m so sorry for the late reply”, it should be “thank you for being patient” or “I really appreciate your patience”.  The same goes for things such as responding to comments or commenting on other people’s blogs. It’s all about finding that right balance of responding without too much time passing but not feeling like you always have to rush or be sorry if a bit of time passes.

It will be a bit different if blogging is your job, but if it’s a hobby then there is no point stressing yourself out too much. Blogging is all about creating what you love, connecting with others, and having fun along the way.

OUTFIT

I love midi dresses, but as someone who is only 5’3 most of them end up being too long or just don’t look right on me. The main reason I love the Who What Wear line at Target is because not only is it affordable, but every dress I have tried on of theirs fits like it was made for me. I saw this button down midi dress on Instagram and when I first put it on I was in love!

Now it is pretty close to being a maxi dress on me, but everything from the color (it also comes in a white striped pattern) to the buttons is beautiful and it is such an easy, chic summer outfit. Next time I wear it I’m probably going to dress it down with my Old Skool Vans, but for an everyday summer look a pair of sandals is my go-to. If you’re looking for some affordable dresses this summer, I highly recommend the Who What Wear collection!

Those are just a bit of my thoughts on apologizing as a blogger. I’d love to know your thoughts on this topic!

Hello dear! I really love how you see things differently. It’s true, many of my emails (both sent and received) begin with ‘I’m sorry for the late reply’. Truth is, even though it’s a hobby you do have to maintain a certain level of professionalism. I think I’m going to adopt your method! Love the dress, it looks beautiful on you just like I told you on Instagram!

    Have a wonderful day,

Thank you Filipa! I agree that you always need to maintain a certain level of professionalism. But I’m glad you liked the post and might try a new method! I hope you’re having a wonderful week x

Nice outfit. I stopped apologizing because I’m sure that people are aware that most of the bloggers have their own private life and work, it’s not like blogging gives you bread and pays for your bills. Maybe some people have this great opportunity but most of us have their own lives and daily jobs 🙂

  4. This midi dress is absolutely beautiful – I love the khaki green colour and you look stunning! I really agree about trying to stop apologising for everything – it’s hard to do but definitely important.
