When Instagram stories first came out I wasn’t a huge fan of them, but now I really enjoy using it. It’s a great way to give people a more candid look into your daily life. Although Instagram stories have great features you can use, there are a lot of apps that are perfect if you want to be a bit more creative. So here are my favorite apps for Instagram stories!
The one thing I’m not a huge fan of on stories is that you can’t record a long video and cut it into smaller parts. You have to stop, post that story, and then continue talking which often makes me lose my train of thought. That’s why this app is really handy. It allows you to take any video and cut it into short ones that flow together. You can pick how long you want each section to be, although 15 seconds is the best for Instagram stories. You do have to pay $0.99 to have their logo removed from the videos, but if you talk a lot on your stories it may be worth it.
This is the best app for Instagram stories! You probably have seen someone use this on their stories, whether with a different font or film photo border, but the features it gives you are amazing. The free features you get are one pack of 25 different layouts you can use, plus different fonts and background colors. There are 4 other template packs you can pay for ($0.99-$1.99), which range from a film collection, ripped paper collection, and different minimal layouts. The one I have is CS3.
What I love the most is that everything is already sized for Instagram, and it’s so easy to create unique, fun looks for your stories. You can also import videos too.
This app has a lot of different features, but I find it is great for creating your own layouts with different background colors. All you have to do is click on collage, then select free style, add the photos you want, and you are good to go! You can change the size of the background, and the one I always use is 3:4. Unlike Unfold, you can move the photos around in any layout you want. It does take some practice, but the creative freedom you get is worth it. I will also use this sometimes for a plain colored background that I can add text to later on my stories.
Although Afterlight is great for editing your photos and for filters, the main thing I like to use it for is dust filters. On the app, there is a free feature called dusty, which allows you to add different dust film looks to any photo.
Without dust effect.

And those are my favorite apps for Instagram stories. I hope this was helpful, and have fun creating more stories!
