One thing I’m a firm believer in is it is never too late in the year to try something new, to start a new habit, or to make a change. Sure, having a holiday or a fresh start of a new month does help, but so does any random weekday. All you need is the determination to try. With it being the last 3 months of the year I sat down and thought about what I want to try and change. So I decided I would share with you what I’m working on to better myself/life these next 3 months, in the hope it will inspire you and give you some ideas too!
If you watched my Instagram stories last year you may remember me starting to sew myself a dress. Sewing is something I took in high school and loved, and last year I decided to start doing it again. Sadly I started right before the holidays and everything just got too busy and hectic to continue. So this year I want to at least finish the dress that I started, and hopefully start sewing a new one too.
Being outside in nature is one of my favorite things to do, but sadly the heat in the summer is just too unbearable to do much outside. With the weather finally cooling off and staying that way, I plan on taking as many opportunities as I can to be outside. I’ve already gone on 2 hikes this past week, and have a few more planned for the future. Not only is it great exercise, but it really does wonders for helping me de-stress.
I talked about this in an Instagram post this month, but I really want to start cooking more. This time of year always inspires me to try new foods, so I’ve started looking for recipes to try. For some reason, I never thought about looking on Pinterest, but I’ve started a recipes board (you can check it out here), and oh my has it been wonderful! I’ve found delicious looking meals and treats to try. This roasted tomato soup recipe is the first one I’m going to try, and I’m actually making it tonight. Once I find a lot of recipes that I like I’ll definitely be sharing them on here too!
Overall I’m a relatively organized person. Although I do keep my space pretty neat, I find that I tend to leave little tasks and things just lying around to do later. And this results in me being overwhelmed and stressed by how cluttered parts of my space become. For these last 3 months I want to get in the habit of putting things away right after using them, and making sure everything has a spot. Recently I bought 2 of these wooden boxes from IKEA to store books and other things, and so far they’ve been great.
As a book lover, I read every day, but the one things I always struggle with is feeling guilty for reading books on my phone. Now, nothing will ever come close to reading an actual book, but I’m trying to work on feeling less guilty when I choose to read on my phone. It makes it easier to read more because not only is it free, but there are way more books to choose from. My goal is to find a healthy balance between reading physical books and reading a few on my phone.
And those are a few of the things I’ll be trying and changing this year! Hopefully, this will help hold me accountable for doing these things, but also inspire you to do something new too! I’d love to know what one thing you’re working on for these last months of the year.
