Best Tips + Advice I’ve Learned For Blogging

01/20/2019

Over my two years of blogging, I’ve written many posts filled with lots of tips and advice for blogging. It has been a learn as I go process and I always love sharing what I’ve learned. So I decided to put all the best things I’ve learned in one place! Whether you are new to blogging or have been blogging for years, here are the best tips and advice I’ve learned for blogging that will hopefully help you!

Best Tips + Advice For Blogging

There is never a better time to start something than the present. Whether that is starting a blog, a new series on your blog, or anything else. You will never be 100% ready, so you might as well do it anyway.

Write about whatever brings you joy. Having a niche may help in certain areas, but if it doesn’t bring you joy to write and create a post about it then don’t write it. There are over 7 billion people in the world. It may take time, but someone will like the content you create.

Quality over quantity. Having a schedule is great but if you skip one blog post because you can’t come up with something to write about, that’s perfectly okay.

Keeping a list of blog post ideas is the best thing you can do. This way, if you don’t have an idea you have a list to look back on.

It’s important to manage your time wisely when blogging. There are a lot of steps that go into blogging, so having some form of a “schedule” is really helpful. I always find knowing what days I’m going to do certain tasks (take photos, write a post, etc.) helps me stay on top of everything.

You don’t need the fanciest equipment to have a blog. Some people use expensive cameras, and other’s use their phone. It really is up to you and what you can afford. If you do want to invest in a camera, do lots of research and know that the lens makes more of a difference than the camera body does.

Take lots of photos. You can never have too many photos, but you can definitely have too little.

Finding your own photography style takes time. Youtube is a great place to learn about everything from camera equipment to how to edit photos. You only ever get better at it by practicing and taking photos, so practice practice practice! Take lots of photos and try different editing styles to see which one you love the best.

Having a blog design that is easy to navigate and isn’t too overwhelming is important. This way people can easily read your posts. It’s also good to make sure it is mobile responsive since most people read blogs on their phones.

Promoting your own posts is so important. No one can read your post if they don’t know it’s there, so be sure to share them on social media and keep sharing them too. You have to be your own biggest cheerleader!

Reading and interacting with other blogger’s blogs is a really great way to make connections, plus there is nothing better than getting helpful tips and inspiration too!

Be you, not them. It’s so easy to get caught up with what everyone else is blogging about or what their style is. It’s perfectly okay to get inspiration from other’s, but don’t copy someone or feel like you have to do what someone else is doing. Stay true to yourself, because no one else can be you.

And those are some of the best tips and advice I’ve learned for blogging! I hope this helps and just remember to have fun, and that everything takes time and work.

I completely agree that the best time to start is often right now. Life has a way of piling more and more things on top so starting something right away is the best way to guarantee that it actually gets done.

I also love the idea of keeping a list with ideas for posts. I actually have a growing one both on my computer and my phone depending on where I was when the ideas came to me 🙂

Thanks for the wonderful tips. This is such a great post for bloggers of all levels of experience. I hope you have a wonderful week.

These are great tips! As someone who loves taking a lot of photos I liked that point about it being better to take lots than not enough! I only share a couple of pics of my outfit but I try get a couple from different angles in case I don’t like a particular view when I look back at the photos, haha! 🙂

Hope that you had a wonderful weekend 🙂 I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I’d love you to join! 🙂

These are such amazing tips!!! I think the hardest thing for me was to actually publish/create my first blog post because I was worrying what people would think of me. Almost 2 years later and while sometimes I am a little nervous about being judged, I’m still so happy and confident with my blog because i’m doing what makes me happy!

I think it’s so easy to assume you need the best camera, but you really don’t. I have a friend who has KILLER iphone shots so i highly suggest the same: work with what you can afford. Love this post!

Wonderful advince Kara! I especially like the organization tip because I’m still working on that myself. I’ve been blogging since 2012, so crazy. I’m barely getting serious about it, as in I would like to make some income out of it. I started it for myself, but throughout the years have grown to love so many other bloggers, sharing and growing in so many ways. Happy I found your blog because I can relate your style so much. Happy blogging babe!

  26. Jessica says:

Great tips dear, and I agree with you 100%, especially on fancy equipments – yes, you don’t need those. Learning a few photography skills with your camera phone would suffice. A good camera however, will take your photos to the next level. And yes, learn to edit your photos (but don’t overdo it though). Anyway, thanks for the wonderful read dear.
