My Blogging To-Do Checklist: Daily + Monthly

Blogging requires a lot of tasks to be done throughout the week, which can make staying on top of everything a bit challenging. I’ve always been someone who works best with having a to-do list, and recently I decided to create one just for blogging. So if you’re new to blogging or find staying on top of everything a bit overwhelming, here is a look at my blogging to-do checklist with daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that will hopefully give you some inspiration!

Respond to comments: This is both on my blog and on Instagram and Twitter.

Read and comment on other blogs: This is a great way to connect with other bloggers and get inspiration!

Plan Instagram photos or take an Instagram photo.

Edit Instagram photos.

Pin photos to Pinterest.

Tweet at least 2 blog posts throughout the day.

Check and respond to any emails.

Take blog photos: This for me usually happens twice a week. Once when I go out and take outfit photos, and the other is lifestyle photos.

Create an outline for a blog post.

Write the full blog post.

Proofread blog posts.

Edit blog photos.

Clear email inbox.

Add links on old posts of new posts that are relevant to each other.

Blog post plan and ideas: Before the start of every month I’ll sit down and plan out on my calendar all the blog posts I want to create for the month. I also brainstorm any future blog post ideas too!

Update shop my closet page with any new items bought that month.

Check blog traffic & analytics: This is something that can be done weekly too.

Create new goals: I always like to set myself new blog goals, whether that be to get more monthly reads or comment on new blogs.

Put photos on hard drive and clear off computer.

Clear off camera memory card.

Back up blog: It’s important not to lose any blog content if something happens, so I always back up my blog once a month or as WordPress updates happen.

And that is a look at my blogging checklist! I hope this gave you some inspiration for creating your own checklist. Keep in mind that this is just what I do, and sometimes there are days or weeks where I don’t get everything done or I don’t need to do all of this. It really is just a tool I use for motivation, so have fun with it!

Oh goodness, running a blog can be overwhelming at times, right? So much to do! It sounds like you’re doing such a lovely job balancing everything – I need to work on that in 2019 😉 Love the inspo, Kara!

These are all so wonderful, and helpful to new bloggers!

Blogs do take a lot of work although I’ve found myself moving from tackling more reach day to doing things in bulk. I’ll often spend many hours at a time writing posts or editing photos. Doing the same task helps me to be more focused and it takes me some time to really get into something. Plus that helps me to take a day off when I’m just not feeling well.

I do like the idea of daily, weekly and monthly checklists though since I can see how staying on top of things would really help to take the pressure off. Thanks for sharing your tips.

It was interesting seeing how you structure all your blog to-dos! I’m so bad with responding to comments, I don’t do it every day, I try alternate days between working on my blog, responding to comments and reading other blogs but sometimes my routine slips and it’s always responding to comments that gets left behind !I need to be more intentional with it 🙂

Hope that you’ve had a wonderful start to 2019 so far! 🙂

You work just like a pro! Your tips are very useful. It’s important to plan ahead and not getting into too much pressure. I do have similar daily and weekly tasks, planning a month ahead is a bit difficult for me but I should start that as well.

Definitely agree that blogging is a continuous task, there’s always something to be doing. My boyfriend was shocked at how much there is to it haha! It’s a great idea to have a checklist and it’s something that I need to start writing down instead of doing it mentally. Great post xx

    • Kara Callahan says:

I’m definitely not organized all the time, but I try. I’m so glad this could be helpful and inspiring! x

  21. Woww this is super impressive! Although it looks like a lot, I’m sure that being in this routine actually helps save time with your blog and becomes second-nature when you’re in the rhythm of it. I think the only one of these things I consistently do is put photos on my hard drive every month (I clear my memory card once the photos are on my computer). I always try to reply to comments daily, but I often fall behind, and I’m even worse at keeping up with my Bloglovin’ feed haha, but I do try to do that daily as well! It all falls apart when I’m traveling though 😛 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

    • Kara Callahan says:

It really does save me time, although I definitely don’t do it all every day. Comments are the one thing I seem to always have to catch up on, so it’s nice to know I’m not the only one. And that’s great that you clear your memory card every month!
