Using Social Media To Grow Your Blog While Still Enjoying It

02/06/2019

Social media is one of the best ways to grow your blog and connect with your readers + other bloggers. But like with a lot of things in life, there are times where using social media can feel a bit like a chore, especially if you have been using it for a while. Today I thought I’d share some tips on how to use social media to grow your blog while still enjoying using it!

Make It Work Into Your Schedule

Using social media for your blog is another added step into your blogging routine. Pick the time of day that works best for you and post on social media. If you want to go on more times throughout the day but for shorter periods of time, make that a part of your schedule. For example, you can go Instagram in the morning after getting ready, and then post in the evening. It really is all about finding what time(s) of the day work best with your life!

Don’t Force It

The one thing that is sure to make you not enjoy using social media is when you force yourself to be on it or post. Don’t force it and on days where you just don’t feel like being on- don’t go on! It’s okay to take a break for a day or two and it will leave you feeling refreshed and more excited to go back on.

Post Frequently But Skip Days Where You Know You Will Be Busy

It is important to post pretty regularly on social media, although it’s not mandatory. But there is nothing worse than having a busy day and feeling stressed because you have to post. So on days where you know you will be busy, work that into your schedule and take a day off social media. What I personally like to do is: I take one day off from posting on Instagram a week. And whatever day I know I’ll be going out to dinner with my family is the day I take off! This way I don’t have to rush to post and interact right before leaving the house.

Post Photos + Content You Genuinely Love And Enjoy Creating

The thing that makes social media the most enjoyable is posting photos and content that you love and enjoy creating. There will be times where you hit a creative roadblock and that’s okay. Just focus less on all the numbers side of it and more on creating good content that you enjoy!

And those are some tips for enjoying social media while using it to grow your blog! Life’s too short to do something you don’t enjoy, so just have fun and create what you love!

Come say hi on Instagram here!

This is such an important post babe, especially as social media is something we’re all utilising! Making it work around our schedules (rather than blasting through them and leaving us short of time!) is very good advice 🙂

great post! social media can only be enjoyable if you don’t take it too seriously and you post what you enjoy. i’ve recently started fitting it more into a schedule rather than randomly and it’s so much better!

These are great points and tips. I think the part about taking time off when you’re busy is especially important since it’s so easy to start feeling like you have to post every day. I actually started taking breaks on days when I don’t feel well or am just too busy recently and it has really made a big difference in how I feel about posting in general.

These are all such great tips! I still have not mastered social media, while some of my peers fly past me in “follower” count. It’s definitely hard to see that happen, but i will keep doing this because it’s honestly my number one passion!

Great tips here, and yup social media can feel like a chore big time. And it is crazy how some people blow up while others do not. But with an ever changing landscape it is no wonder. And IG changed it’s algorithm yet once again. It now only shows your post to %20 of your followers. So if your likes suddenly dropped off and your also not seeing all the people you follow posts that is why.

These are good tips! I definitely try schedule the time I have for social media – I use hootsuite to plan out some posts when I can, and if I forget to post on Instagram for the day I don’t worry too much about it! 🙂

Hope that you are having a wonderful weekend 🙂

  13. I agree with all your points. Posting when you are stressed is awful. I usually don’t post on weekend for a good break. Love this look!

I used to use Instagram exclusively to promote my posts -e.g. New post on the blog and an unrelated image on Instagram, lol. It took me the hard way to realise I should treat it as something separate and the more Instagram grows the more people will visit my blog.
Great tips Kara, thanks for sharing!
    Happy Saturday!

This post is brilliant – it can be so hard to get the balance between growing your blog and enjoying the process, but you’ve got it nailed! I think the priority has to be to stay true to yourself and make sure you don’t change your style just to gain those slightly higher stats on Instagram. Thanks for sharing such a helpful post 🙂
