Life Update: Just Go For It

Earlier this year after opening my online boutique I started thinking about the direction I wanted to go in life. I was slowly realizing that the uncertainty that comes with owning a business wasn’t something I wanted to be my main job. Which led to many sleepless nights worrying about the future and figuring out what comes next. I thought I would share a general idea of where I’m going in life and share some hopefully helpful pieces of advice for anyone who feels a little stuck.

Life Update: Just Go For It

Long story short, after going back and forth many times I have decided to go back to college. If you don’t know, last year I graduated with an Associates in Business. And although I enjoyed the program,  I knew the career path I could take wasn’t one that excited me. So I decided to finally go for the thing I discovered I loved about 2 years ago. Even though the last thing I wanted to do was go back, I know it’s the right choice.

I don’t want to jinx anything, so I sadly won’t be telling you what exactly it is I am going back to college for until it’s set in stone (with graduation + a job). But if you stick around for 2ish years you might find out. It’s in tech and although I have only been doing it for a little over a week, I already love it.

One of the things I find the most comforting is that no one has any idea what they are doing, and we’re all just winging it. There are over 7 billion versions of normal, so don’t let what every else’s journey looks like stop you from creating your own.

As cliche as it is, life really is too short to not make changes and go for what you want. We often think because of our age, or if we already have a set path that we can’t decide to do something else. And that is honestly ridiculous. Some people are lucky and find what they want to do at 18. Some people it’s 25, 40, 60, or later.

It’s nerve-wracking and hard to start over from the beginning, but it’s worth it in the end. There really is no wrong way of living life. The main goal is to be happy, so even if it takes a lot of time or you can’t do it right now, it’s better to try than to have never tried at all.

I’m right there with you – I wanted my main job to be something steady. That way something creative (for you, your wonderful boutique!), could be YOURs and something that you enjoy. I’ve been there, so if you were to ever want to talk about career shifts, I’m here for you, Kara!

Totally with you Kara, we should go for what we want in life. Most of the time we are afraid of the outcome and failure. But that should not discourage us or stop us from doing what we want.

Beautiful read dear, and I couldn’t agree more. Life is too short indeed, so try something that scares you. Break through that barrier. After all, happiness is just outside your comfort zone. Anyway, lovely snaps you have here!

I couldn´t agree more – life really is too short to not make changes and go for what you want. I often remind myself that the joy is in this process of exploring and discovering! If you don´t grow, evolve and change you just move backwards, cause the rest of the world keeps changing anyway! And who said we all should be defined by one single thing, right?! I find it amazing that you can be a blogger, a business owner, a student and anyone else you want to be!

I’m wishing you well in your chosen field, I’m in IT in since I graduated from uni and I’m glad I found it early what I wanted. But you’re right we have different phases that’s why we shouldn’t give up on our dreams. Nice photos!

  31. Simone says:

A change is always good and it opens your mind. You always get to that point in life where you do not exactly know where it’s leading you, just do what your heart says and never hesitate when you get to do something you’ve never done before.

Congratulation on figuring out what you want! I really hope it works out for you. I’ll be sure to stick around for two years to find out what it is 🙂

This was such an inspiring post! It really is never too late to take a chance and go for something one wants to do. Life is short but it can also be long and being stuck doing something you don’t want to is not the best way to live it.

slightly teared up reading this, but your advice rings with a lot of truth. I’m only at the starting point in my career, I try my best to brainstorm possibilities of growing in my job (but also in life!). Thank you for sharing Kara.
