My Minimal Everyday Makeup & Why I Stopped Buying New Makeup Products

Last year I realized that I really loved the excitement that comes with buying and trying out new makeup products, but after using them for a few times I would go back to the products I was already using. For now, I donโ€™t plan on buying any new products except for replacements of the ones I already have. The reason for this is because it is wasteful both with money and the number of products I end up never finishing. Sticking to what I already love has saved me both money and time getting ready in the morning. Since I am at a point where I pretty much have a favorite product for each step in my makeup routine, I thought I would share what my minimal everyday makeup looks like!

If you were to look into my everyday makeup bag (or drawer in my case), this is what you would find:

Glossier Skin Tint

This is a product I have been using on and off for almost 3 years now and it is a perfect lightweight, everyday base makeup. It gives my skin a more even tone while still letting my natural coloring show through. I apply this with my hands all over my face and neck and it is extremely easy to blend.

Urban Decay Concealer

Sadly this product has been discontinued with a new formula by Urban Decay, so I will have to go on the hunt for a new concealer soon.ย  I use this under my eyes and on my chin to cover up some redness. It gives just the right amount of coverage without being too heavy.

Soap & Glory Powder

I always use a light powder to set my makeup in place for the day.

Tarte Blush in Exposed

This gives the right amount of color to my already red-toned skin. A few swipes of this on my cheeks and I am good to go.

Nudestix Eyebrow Pencil in Ash Brown

This is my favorite makeup product I have ever used. As long as they make this product, I will be using it for my eyebrows. It is extremely easy to use and the ash brown shade is the perfect cool tone brown.

W3ll People Mascara

A simple, as natural as I can find mascara that doesnโ€™t make my lashes clump. There is nothing more I could ask for.

Lorac Pro Palette Shade Pewter

This palette is a few years old and every day I use the shade Pewter for my eyeshadow. It is a cool tone slightly shimmery brown shade that adds the right amount of definition to my eyes. It will be a bit of a pain when I have to buy the whole palette again just for one shade, but the other shades are great for days where I want to try something new.

And that is a look at the 7 products I use every day for my makeup! There are plenty of days now where I tend to wear no makeup at all except for filling in my eyebrows, and there are also days where I like to wear a little bit of lipstick too. I have found that simplifying my everyday makeup and using the products I know I love has made getting ready quicker and more enjoyable.

I’d love to know what products you use every day and if you like trying new products or sticking to what you love!

I also stick to my tried and tested make-up products, nice to know that I’m not the only one. You look great in natural make-up look!

This is such a beautiful makeup look! I never tried any of these particular products, but they all sound great! I do love trying new makeup, but instead of buying a lot of the new releases this year I look at what I already have and if there’s anything similar or comparable to it in my collection. Having that outlook has helped me realize how similar a lot of makeup on the market is today and now I only try to buy products that are different and something I would get a lot of use out of. Thanks for sharing, I really loved reading this! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m one who buys make up when I completely finish with the old one. It works for me, otherwise it becomes too much.

I hear you about minimalism when it comes to makeup. I have a whole bag of old makeup I don’t know what to do with so I am being much selective now when I buy cosmetics. I am looking for a new eyebrow product I have not found one that I like I will have to check out Nude Stick.

I keep my makeup simple too! I only wear ti the 2 days a week I’m in the office so I don’t need much – the Tarte blush is one I use, although mine is a different shade ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope that your week has been good and you have a nice weekend ahead of you! There’s a lot of smoke again around here but we are safe from the bushfires.

It’s great that you found a routine and products that work well for you! There’s definitely no point in buying others if you don’t use them and already know your favorites.

I don’t really wear makeup, but I’ve simplified my skin care routine with similar good results.

I went through a similar stage a few years ago I would get so excited and try new products then go back to my regulars ahah but I did find some new ones that eventually became my regulars but it is funny how we are creatures of habit like that! I love this minimal look – I am all for low effort make up around this busy time of year. Lots of love,

I totally understand your point. There is no need for new makeup product when you already have makeup items that suit your skin.

  13. Great products dear!! I’ll have to try them!!
    Have a lovely new week

Urban decay and Tarte are really good brands to begin with. I hear on being a minimalist with makeup though. I am quite happy with my “one” makeup pouch full of beauty products and none elsewhere. Clutter can be suffocating at times! –

Loving the glossier products hun, and you this is the perfect minimal make-up. You look beautiful!

Most of the time I don’t wear any make up. I sometimes put on a lipstick or a mascara and that’s all. I don’t particularly enjoy make up and I’m quite lazy with applying it. I think make up can be a wonderful creative tool for those who enjoy it, but for those of us that aren’t really into it, a minimalist approach is definitely better for it saves both time and money. Plus, buying less products is good for the environment. It was fun learning about the products you use. You look lovely. Have a nice day!

  17. Hello Kara
I confess that when you are 47 you use a lot more products than when you are young !! I think what you wear is enough for young skin. I also use pretty much the same products but every once in a while I like to buy new eyeshadows !!

I am guilty of buying new makeup quite frequently despite the fact that I already have enough of makeup to use for next 100 years…I should take your advise seriously and try to stop buying excessive.. I like your minimal makeup choices here too…thanks for this wonderful post… You look so pretty Kara…โค๏ธ

I love to stick with the ones I have too. I’ve tried so many other products but either their not good for my skin or I’m just not satisfied enough. You have so many amazing products, concealer and mascara are a must for me.
